Review

Taking place a year before THE ENEMY, Charlie Higson gives us a glimpse of what it was like for the kids who had to start fighting the zombie-like adults only weeks after the disaster that either killed or turned everyone over 14-years-old into crazed monsters.Ed makes a great reluctant hero. Readers will grow to love him even though his weaknesses at the beginning of the novel make him seem like he’ll be more of a hinderance than help.Higson provides us with the tiniest bit of character cross-over, making it fun to see how some of the characters we met in THE ENEMY got their start. If you enjoyed THE ENEMY, you’ll love THE DEAD as well.
