Kiss of Death - Rachel Caine
If you haven’t read the other books in the series, this review may be spoilerish.Rachel Caine is shaking things up in this, the 8th installment of the Morganville Vampire Series. After Michael’s outstanding musical performance in FADE OUT, he’s offered a chance to lay down some tracks at a recording studio in Dallas. The problem is getting permission to leave town. Amelie rarely lets people (or vampires) leave.Michael isn’t the only one needing travel passes. Claire promised Morley she’d get passes for him and his followers within a certain time period. If she doesn’t, Morley will come to call and feed from her, Eve, and Shane. The town council has turned her down every time she’s asked and time is running out.Out of the blue, the Glass House gets a delivery. Inside an envelope are travel passes. Claire can’t believe her luck, but she soon realizes there are only 4 passes in the envelope. They are meant for her and the gang to go to Dallas for Michael’s recording session. Excited about a road trip, they put Morley in the backs of their minds and hit the open road. The only downside? Oliver is assigned as their escort.KISS OF DEATH is a fast-paced thrill ride. It is filled with tender moments, heart-pounding suspense, and laugh-out-loud dialogue. Rachel Caine does a great job of weaving in new storyline and, as much as I love Morganville, it was refreshing to “get out of town.” If you are a fan of the series, you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, hurry up! Go get GLASS HOUSE today because you do need to read this series in order to fully understand what is happening.
